Shaanxi's first specialized automated production line for spaceborne
laser-communication terminals began operation in Xi'an, moving devices from
laboratory development to serial production and expected to enhance China’s
satellite autonomy, high-efficiency networking and large-scale constellation
management. Phase one capacity is 600 terminals per year, with output targeted
to exceed 1,000 units annually by 2027. Mass-produced terminals support 5–100
Gbps links, are compact, low-power and interference-resistant; core optical
components were independently developed by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and
Precision Mechanics and are designed to meet bulk supply needs for LEO
mega-constellations.
