Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian declined to confirm Panamanian media
reports that China and Panama have reached consensus on renewing a maritime
agreement, saying specific details should be obtained from the competent Chinese
authorities. Asked about Panama-flagged vessels detained in Chinese ports, he
offered no update. Lin added China seeks equal, mutually beneficial ties and
supports strengthened bilateral cooperation with Panama.
