China foreign minister Wang Yi met Canadian foreign minister Anand in Manila on
the 21st. Wang said 1H bilateral trade rose 16% YoY, with Canadian exports to
China up 23.3%. He noted Canadian canola and beef have resumed access to China
and Chinese electric vehicles are entering the Canadian market. Wang said China
will work with Canada to implement leaders’ agreements, prepare further
high-level exchanges, strengthen political trust, expand cooperation including
on global governance and artificial intelligence, and manage sensitive
differences.
