The Reserve Bank of Australia said its latest survey shows inflation remains
Australians' top economic concern and that the public still has fundamental gaps
in understanding the monetary policy transmission mechanism. The survey, part of
the RBA's transparency work responding to a 2023 independent review, has run in
three rounds since early last year and collected about 9,000 responses; results
are being used to improve public communications. The RBA found public trust in
the central bank is comparable to other Australian and international
institutions and has been stable since early 2025, though trust varies across
groups; higher-trust respondents typically report lower inflation expectations,
underscoring trust's role in expectations and policy transmission.
