At the 2026 China Auto Forum on July 22, Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president
and secretary‑general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers
(CAAM), said the domestic auto market’s incremental growth is narrowing and the
industry has entered a new phase of competition for existing market share. He
said competition has intensified and firms should defend fundamentals, return to
rational competition and pursuit of high‑quality, sustainable development. Fu
flagged three policy and supply risks: governance and institutional mechanisms
need urgent improvement to support sustainable industry development; the
industrial and supply chains have gaps, including weak domestic control of core
foundational technologies and high external dependence on upstream critical
minerals; and globalization faces multiple challenges.
