The Wall Street Journal reports President Trump has approved a 30-year US-Saudi nuclear cooperation agreement that would allow Saudi Arabia to develop civil nuclear projects and could permit uranium enrichment on Saudi soil. The deal, reported to be worth billions of dollars, aims to give US companies a dominant role in Saudi nuclear infrastructure and to exclude other foreign competitors; US firms would build enrichment facilities if joint US-Saudi research deems them necessary. Administration officials say the pact is intended to preserve US influence over Riyadh’s nuclear program and reduce the risk of diversion for military use. The agreement will be sent to Congress for review in coming days and may face opposition from lawmakers citing proliferation risks amid regional instability.
