On July 22 at the 2026 China Auto Forum, Fu Bingfeng, vice-president and secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), said the global auto industry is undergoing deep adjustment and faces complex external shocks from low-carbon rules and geopolitics, alongside domestic pressures including fiercer competition, gaps in key core technologies and structural capacity adjustment. He noted more than 500 new models launched in 1H, with many firms pursuing broad, “all‑in” product lineups that have increased model homogeneity and led to aggressive strategic targets and widespread operating anxiety. He urged automakers to defend bottom lines, return to rational competition, focus on differentiated market niches, avoid short‑term opportunity and adopt long-term development strategies.
