Axios, citing sources, reports Israel’s new Mossad chief Roman Gofman visited
Washington two weeks ago to meet US officials on the Israel‑Iran conflict and
Iran’s nuclear program. It was his first US trip since taking office in June and
occurred just before renewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and a flare‑up in
fighting. Gofman’s visit aimed to coordinate nuclear‑deal negotiations with the
White House; he met with CIA director Ratcliffe and White House officials.
Sources say Ratcliffe, within Trump’s core decision circle, has been skeptical
of a US‑Iran memorandum and warned Iran could interpret agreement terms
differently from the US, including provisions related to the Strait of Hormuz.
