Over the past 24 hours three large crude tankers carrying about 6 mln barrels of
oil left the Persian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz. One loaded in Iraq, one in
Qatar and one in the UAE; all three had their automatic identification systems
(AIS) switched off, making them harder to monitor and reducing their risk of
attack.
