China and ASEAN foreign ministers issued a joint statement agreeing to explore a cooperation mechanism to bolster regional energy security and resilience. said they will further strengthen regional grid interconnection, energy supply chains, clean, low-carbon and renewable energy deployment, energy-technology innovation and civil nuclear cooperation. The ministers endorsed the ASEAN Energy Cooperation Action Plan (2026–2030) and said they would seek cooperation opportunities under China’s Global Development Initiative and the Belt and Road. Subject to mutual agreement, they plan to mobilize public‑private financing and leverage platforms including the ASEAN Center for Energy, the China‑ASEAN Clean Energy Cooperation Center, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions and the China‑ASEAN Investment Cooperation Fund to support projects.
