ANTHROPIC launched Claude OPUS 5, a general-purpose AI model priced at about
half the cost of its more advanced Fable 5 while delivering near-Fable 5
performance across multiple categories. The firm said OPUS 5 is targeted at
routine office workloads and improves self-checking, scientific-research and
code-optimization capabilities. ANTHROPIC added OPUS 5’s ability to find
cybersecurity vulnerabilities is close to MYTHOS 5, though it remains notably
weaker at exploiting those vulnerabilities; the release comes as enterprises and
Rivals including OpenAI, Meta and SpaceXAI compete to offer more cost-efficient
models.
