Gulf states have issued $112 billion in bonds so far this year, a record high for the same period. Since 2022, bond issuance by these countries has more than tripled. Currently, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Qatar are seeking financing to build infrastructure around the Strait of Hormuz. This includes building new ports in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman, repairing aging oil and gas pipelines, and improving the countries' road networks. Kuwait alone raised $6 billion last week, attracting a staggering $14.8 billion in investor orders, more than double the issuance amount, demonstrating continued strong demand for Gulf bonds.
