A VLCC named Olympic Luck carrying part Saudi crude transited the Suez Canal
into the Mediterranean on Sunday night, Kpler data show. The Greek-flagged
vessel has since diverted from Europe and is en route to an undisclosed Asian
destination. The move, after Houthi militants announced a Red Sea last week
blockade and attacked ships, is likely the first VLCC with Saudi crude to opt
for the longer, costlier route around Africa; other vessels continue to risk
passage through the Bab al-Mandeb.
