The National Energy Administration issued a 2026–2030 action plan to raise coalbed methane (CBM) reserves and output in the eastern Ordos Basin and directed coordinated build-out of transmission infrastructure. It calls for advancing a CBM transmission network in the eastern Ordos per the national “one gas grid” plan, focusing on Daning–Jixian, Mizhi North, Shenfu and Daniu-di blocks and leveraging existing oil and gas field infrastructure to strengthen network interconnectivity. The plan supports near-field hookups to national trunk pipelines including the Shaanxi–Beijing line, the West–East Gas Pipeline and the Yuji line, promotes digital and smart station upgrades to boost operational efficiency and refined management, and encourages planning and construction of underground gas storage to stabilize output and enhance peak-shaving and supply security.
