MOFCOM said China-EU goods trade rose 14.2% YoY in 1H to $447.9 bln, and cooperation potential remains large in services, tech innovation and the green economy. MOFCOM rejected the framing of China as the source of the EU's trade and economic issues and said it opposes protectionism while favoring cooperation. At the end of last month MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO and European Commission commissioner for trade and economic security Šefčovič co-chaired the first meeting of the China‑EU trade and investment consultation mechanism, agreeing on a new positioning as stable, balanced key trade partners; MOFCOM said it will use the mechanism to intensify dialogue, manage frictions, promote pragmatic cooperation and steer bilateral trade toward greater stability and balance, aiming to add certainty to the global economy.
