A report in Lebanon's Al-Akhbar analyzed the impact and key signals of the latest Yemeni military operation against Saudi energy facilities, noting that the attack on Saudi Arabia's east-west oil pipeline further tightened the "encirclement" of Saudi oil supplies. The report quoted a military source in Sana'a as saying, "This new operation by the Yemeni military against Saudi energy facilities confirms that key Saudi oil facilities are now on our military target list." The Yemeni military source emphasized, "The Yemeni military attacked Saudi oil transportation systems more than 1,500 kilometers from eastern Saudi Arabia—the country's easternmost region—demonstrating its ability to enter any location within Yemen. Therefore, unless Saudi Arabia unconditionally and positively responds to Sana'a's demands, it cannot prevent a fierce counterattack from the Yemeni military. The most important of these demands are: lifting the air and sea blockade against Yemen; expediting the resolution of the wage issues for Yemeni government employees; paying compensation to Yemen and withdrawing from Yemeni territory; disbanding militias; and ceasing funding of any terrorist organizations."
