On July 29, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said at a regular briefing
that cross-strait travel has been strong this summer and airlines have resumed
four direct routes, which have been popular with passengers. Airlines are
working to restore direct-route networks and upgrade transit services to meet
demand. Spokesperson Chen Binhua reiterated the office's positive, explicit push
to fully normalize cross-strait direct air links and urged Taiwan to acknowledge
passenger demand, align with public sentiment, promptly remove unreasonable
restrictions on cross-strait air transport, and allow cross-strait carriers to
autonomously schedule flights based on market demand.
