South Korea's southeast recorded extreme heat on July 29: Yangsan in
Gyeongsangnam-do hit 40.3C — the highest there since 2008 — and Busan reached
38.8C, the city's highest since 1904, the Korea Meteorological Administration
(KMA) said. YONHAP reported this is the third consecutive year a location in
South Korea has exceeded 40C. Southern Seoul's apparent temperature rose to
35.1C and the KMA upgraded heat alerts in parts of eastern and southwest Seoul
from caution to warning.
