China's National Energy Administration said national peak load reached 1.553
billion kW (1,553 GW) during the summer peak, about 45 million kW (45 GW) above
last year's peak. Since early July, widespread persistent heat and improving
economic activity has driven repeated record electricity demand; 15 provincial
grids including Liaoning, Jiangsu and Hubei logged a combined 32 new peak-load
records since June. The NEA said power supply across the country remains broadly
stable.
