China’s total electricity consumption rose 5.3% YoY in 1H, the National Energy
Administration said. Tertiary-sector demand expanded rapidly: charging and
battery-swapping services consumed 81.0 bln kWh, up 56.9% YoY, and internet data
services consumed 49.4 bln kWh, up 44% YoY; together they added 0.9 percentage
point to overall power-demand growth. The NEA cited rapid expansion of
new-energy vehicles, AI and other high-tech industries as the main drivers.
