The Bulgarian National Assembly on July 31 set the presidential election for
Oct. 25, 2026. Incumbent Iliana Yotova, who became president in January after
the Constitutional Court approved former president Radev’s resignation, has said
she will run. Under the constitution the president is elected by popular vote
for a five-year term, renewable once; Radev’s term was originally due to expire
in January 2027.
