Major US equity indices closed higher on Friday as Amazon (AMZN.O) surged more
than 15% after reporting its largest quarterly revenue gain in over four years.
Amazon’s results, alongside a similar Microsoft (MSFT.O) report on Wednesday,
eased investor concerns about potential overinvestment in AI data-center
capacity. Longbow Asset Management CEO Jake Dollarhide said the reports
dispelled worries that Amazon’s spending was a risky 'moonshot.' Apple (AAPL.O)
fell 7.4% after warning that supply constraints will weigh on growth, reviving
concerns that recent iPhone price increases could damp consumer demand.
