The Ministry of Water Resources said heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in
eastern Northeast China on Aug 1, light‑to‑moderate rain in the region's
southeast on Aug 2, and moderate‑to‑heavy rain in central‑northern Northeast
from Aug 3‑7. The Songhua River and the Ganhe, a tributary of the Nen River, may
see a numbered flood. The ministry activated a flood‑defense level‑IV emergency
for Heilongjiang province at 13:00 on Aug 1.
