The Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee said on the evening of Aug. 1 local time a homemade explosive device detonated at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow. An unidentified woman tried to bring the device into the restaurant and was stopped by security; the blast killed the woman, a security guard and another patron, and injured 21 people.
