By 19:00 ET, NYMEX September WTI hit a low of $74.78/bbl, down $5.89 (-6.96%) from the prior close; ICE October Brent hit $81.55/bbl, down $6.38 (-7.26%). President Trump told media on Air Force One on the afternoon of the 2nd that the US will hold talks with Iran the next day; he had announced the previous day that he called off planned military strikes on Iran.
