As for the US, the Trump administration just wants to cut its losses and extricate itself, so it might agree." Ayr said that Trump would then say that Iran has pledged not to develop nuclear weapons, and then withdraw from the war to attend to other matters. The best, and most realistic, scenario is that, as part of an agreement between Iran and Oman and the GCC countries, Iran will at least gain administrative control of the Strait in the short term.
