US President Trump tweeted that Iran's leadership is "two-faced", saying some officials have requested — even "begged" — meetings; negotiations have begun and further talks are scheduled in coming days. He added Iran publicly denies holding talks and says it has only been in contact with Oman. Trump asserted the Strait of Hormuz is effectively under US Navy control via a US "blockade operation" — an "American steel wall" — and warned that nothing will enter Iran unless the US allows it; unless an agreement is reached or Iran effects a "complete surrender", shipments will not transit. He reiterated that Iran will never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
