The Reserve Bank of India left the repo rate at 5.25% for a fourth consecutive policy meeting, as expected. The six-member Monetary Policy Committee, led by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, voted unanimously. The MPC retained a neutral stance, citing inflation remaining within the 2%-6% target range. The central bank said it is monitoring energy-price rises from the Iran conflict for broader inflation pass-through and will consider policy action only if those supply shocks generate sustained, wider inflationary pressure.

Ukraine's SBU said on Aug 4 it has struck more than 100 Russian strategic targets over the past 40 days, firms targeting defense-industrial, air bases, air-defence systems, command posts, ships, 'shadow fleet' tankers, refineries, oil depots, pump stations, oil terminals and military logistics, causing damage to equipment and infrastructure. The SBU said strikes hit six military airfields, including Saky, Gvardeyskoye and Engels, and the Yevpatoria aircraft factory. Kyiv said it will continue operations to degrade Russia's military-economic capacity. Russia had no immediate comment.
