Iran’s foreign ministry said two months of talks with Oman, both littoral states of the Strait of Hormuz, have produced agreement on geographic coordinates for a proposed commercial shipping corridor and that a joint declaration containing the main consensus is in final review and drafting, provided third parties do not obstruct the process. Tehran said technical, legal, security and environmental issues have been reviewed and described the negotiations as professional and forward-looking. The ministry added Iran’s foreign minister and parliamentary speaker currently has no planned visits to Pakistan or Qatar, but Iran is in contact with both as they continue efforts to ease regional tensions.
