EIA data show U.S. distillate fuel exports rose to a record 1.9 mln bpd last
week, surpassing May’s prior peak, as global demand for diesel strains supplies.
Exports have exceeded 1.5 mln bpd for five straight weeks. Disruptions linked to
early U.S.-Iran hostilities — impeding crude and product flows through the
Strait of Hormuz — and months of Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries have
tightened global diesel availability, leaving the U.S. one of the few producers
able to export at scale. Despite refiners running at full tilt to boost diesel
output, seasonally adjusted U.S. distillate inventories fell to their lowest
level for this time of year since 1996.
