Iran’s deputy foreign minister said on Wednesday Tehran is not negotiating with the United States over the Strait of Hormuz, calling US claims that talks are underway incorrect. He said Iran has received US communications indicating Washington is prepared to resume prior commitments, but Tehran has not decided whether to enter a second phase that would implement any US‑Iran memorandum of understanding. Earlier on Wednesday President Trump said the Strait would reopen “soon” or he would launch a new round of strikes, saying “very good discussions” were underway and warning he would resume military action if Iran reneged.
