Microsoft disclosed most of its AI revenue came from OpenAI, reporting $24.1 bln in sales from OpenAI in the fiscal year ended June (MSFT.O). CEO NADELLA had said AI business revenue could reach about $37 bln on a full-year basis as of the end of the March quarter. The filing implies OpenAI accounted for more than half—and possibly roughly 70%—of Microsoft’s AI sales in the most recent fiscal year. Under the companies’ agreement OpenAI pays Microsoft for compute, AI model development costs and shares part of revenue.
