According to data from the U.S. Department of Labor's July Household Survey, the U.S. labor force is projected to decrease by 264,000 in July 2026, with the labor force participation rate falling 0.1 percentage point to 61.4%; the number of employed persons will decrease by 87,000, with the employment-to-population ratio falling 0.1 percentage point to 58.9%; the number of unemployed persons will decrease by 178,000, with the unemployment rate falling 0.1 percentage point to 4.1%; and the non-labor force will increase by 381,000.
