The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported seasonally adjusted on Friday
nonfarm payrolls declined by 23,000 in July, versus market expectations for
roughly a 80,000 gain. June payrolls were revised down to a 20,000 increase. The
unemployment rate eased to 4.1%, while the labor force participation rate
slipped to 61.4%, the lowest in over five years.
