The U.S. nonfarm payroll report for July showed that the number of unemployed decreased by 178,000 month-on-month, a drop of about 2.5%; the unemployment rate continued to decline from 4.2% to 4.1%. The unemployment rate for people aged 25 and above remained at 3.4%, and the unemployment rate for people aged 20 and above remained at 3.8%. The unemployment rates for the 16-19 and 35-44 age groups saw the largest declines, from 14.6% to 12.1% and from 3.3% to 2.9%, respectively.
