On Aug. 7 Trump posted on Truth Social that he will immediately appeal a federal
appeals court decision blocking the White House ballroom project to the US
Supreme Court, calling the ruling "politically motivated and illegal." He cited
Judge Naomi Rao's dissent arguing the National Trust for Historic
Preservation lacks standing, the district court exceeded its authority, and
government national-security interests should take precedence. Trump said the
project includes not only a ballroom but also a bunker, hospital and medical
facilities, classified military facilities, an anti-missile steel structure, an
anti-drone roof, military-grade ventilation systems and bulletproof and
blast-resistant glass, and constitutes an integrated national-security/military
facility project.
