Aug 6, 2026, New Delhi — China and India held the 36th meeting of the border affairs consultation and coordination mechanism. Hou Yanqi, director of the Chinese MFA Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs, and Gao Shi, joint secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs East Asia division, co-chaired. Officials from foreign, defense, interior and immigration ministries attended. The sides exchanged views on implementing consensus from the 24th meeting of special representatives, agreed to jointly prepare for the 25th meeting of special representatives, and discussed delimitation, border management, mechanism building and cross‑border cooperation. Both sides agreed to maintain diplomatic and military channels to preserve peace and stability in border areas.
