On the 7th NV Energy, Nevada's largest supplier, sued a developer building two
data centers in the state, alleging the facilities would consume nearly
one-third of the utility's generation and shift power costs to consumers. NV
Energy, which supplies about 90% of Nevada customers, is seeking the developer
to fund roughly $1 bln in grid upgrades and warned that if the developer does
not bear more infrastructure costs the utility may raise rates, passing the
burden to households and businesses. The developer countered that NV Energy has
failed to deliver promised power service while still demanding the $1 bln
upgrade contribution.
