At about 23:55 local time on Aug. 8, Kansai Electric Power Co.'s Ohi nuclear plant Unit 3 in Fukui prefecture automatically shut down after alarms from an internal generator equipment abnormality. Kansai Electric said there is no radiological impact on the surrounding environment. Kansai Electric's Mihama plant Unit 3 in Fukui was manually shut in May after a turbine steam leak.
