AI-driven demand has pushed memory prices per GB back near 2007 levels, effectively erasing about two decades of price declines, Daniel Lemire, a computer science professor in Quebec, said, calling it a rare industry anomaly. A Stanford DAM project price series shows DDR5 trading at $11.41–13.28 per GB (about 77–90 yuan/GB), overlapping DDR2 price bands from around 2008; on an inflation-adjusted basis the series is roughly back to 2011 DDR3 levels.
