The National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of
Emergency Management initiated a level-4 flood-control emergency response for
Hubei and Shandong at 08:00 on Aug 10. Meteorological forecasts for Aug 10–13
show heavy to very heavy rain in north-central Hubei and parts of Shandong, with
locally extreme downpours. Authorities warn of elevated risks of flash floods,
geological disasters and flooding on small- and medium-sized rivers.
