Mehran Kamrawa, a professor at Georgetown University in Qatar, stated that negotiations between Iran and the United States are progressing very slowly. Currently, we are seeing Iran attempting to exert economic pressure on its regional neighbors, particularly Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, hoping they will in turn pressure the US to negotiate. Simultaneously, the US is also exerting economic pressure on Iran. Neither side is willing to take the first step, to extend an olive branch and say, "Let's sit down and talk." Kamrawa expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of US economic pressure. Iran is indeed under immense economic pressure. However, it must be remembered that Iran's political system is inherently highly repressive. Decision-makers are not directly concerned with the plight of the middle class; their concern is preserving power. The US has been pressuring Iran for decades without overthrowing the regime or truly changing the Iranian government's behavior. Therefore, I cannot be certain that this strategy will work at this moment.
