Sentix data show euro-area investor confidence returned to positive territory in
August and rose for a fourth consecutive month. The improvement was driven by a
marked rebound in investors’ assessment of current conditions and a pickup in
expectations. Sentix said the confidence shock from the Iran war appears partly
absorbed, though high energy costs and weak order books continue to weigh on the
outlook. Germany’s economy looks set to further stabilize after firmer data and
Q2 GDP growth of 0.2%, which helped the country avoid another recession.
