Security policy and defense analyst Wolfgang Pustä said the appointment of former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohsen Rezaei as Iran's new security chief marks a rise in the influence of hardliners in Tehran. He pointed out that this reflects closer coordination between the Revolutionary Guard, the State Religious Leader, and the President. Pustä noted that while some hardliners and moderates are attempting to resolve the conflict through negotiations, Rezaei's appointment clearly indicates Iran's intention to advance its strategic layout regarding the future of the Strait of Hormuz and its nuclear program according to its own will, and to address the current situation in its own way.
