In a joint statement on Tuesday, Australian Prime Minister Albanese and the
Vietnam president agreed to further strengthen defense and security cooperation
and to step up efforts against transnational organized crime and
people‑smuggling. During the Vietnam president's first visit to Australia, both
sides pledged to increase trade and investment and to support "resilient supply
chains in critical minerals, semiconductors and clean energy."
