On Aug. 11 at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, the U.S. and other
countries issued a joint 'ballistic missile launch notification' statement
criticizing China’s July submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile
test. China’s disarmament ambassador Li Chijiang strongly rejected the
criticism, saying Beijing had given advance notice of the test, accusing the
U.S. of enlisting non-members, abusing the forum for political and manipulation
applying double standards, and calling the move 'microphone diplomacy' that
China will not accept.
