Venezuela’s minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade, Plasencia, posted a
government bulletin on social media on the 11th saying Venezuela and Israel have
agreed to restore consular services and to set up a coordination mechanism to
provide consular assistance to each other’s nationals when needed. Venezuela
severed diplomatic relations with Israel on Jan. 14, 2009; then‑president Hugo
Chávez expelled Israel’s ambassador the week before.
