Today (12th) China launched its first double‑deck bulk rail‑sea intermodal
half‑height container train from Baotou Wanshuiquan South station, Inner
Mongolia, to Huanghua port, Hebei. The service links double‑deck rail transport
with sea shipping without re‑boxing: standard 2.6m containers are compressed to
1.7m half‑height units compatible with existing port‑rail handling, enabling
single‑box end‑to‑end transfer, cutting more than five transshipment steps and
reducing unit transport cost by over 25%. The operator describes the option as a
no‑rebox, no‑open, one‑box‑through logistics solution for bulk cargo.
