Russia has started importing gasoline from India after Ukrainian attacks on
Russian refineries caused severe domestic fuel shortages, shipping data firm
Kpler said. Kpler flagged this as Russia’s first import of automotive gasoline
from a South Asian country: the initial India-origin cargo arrived on Aug. 5,
and more shipments may follow. The fuel was carried on tankers linked to Russia
and was transshipped near Egypt before moving to Russia. Kpler chief analyst
Sumit Ritolia said Indian supplies, together with continued imports from Belarus
and other nearby markets, underline the severity of Russia’s domestic gasoline
supply-demand imbalance and reflect refinery run-rate cuts reshaping its
refined-products trade flows.
