Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that seasonally adjusted energy inflation in the U.S. fell 1.5% month-over-month in July, compared to a 5.7% decline in June. Specifically, commodity energy inflation fell 2.9% month-over-month, compared to a 9.5% decline in June; gasoline inflation fell 2.9% month-over-month, compared to a 9.7% decline in June; and fuel oil inflation fell 1.7% month-over-month, compared to a 9.2% decline in June. Unadjusted energy inflation rose 14.7% year-over-year in July, compared to a 15.7% increase in June. Specifically, commodity energy inflation rose 24.7% year-over-year, compared to a 27.1% increase in June; gasoline inflation rose 24.6% year-over-year, compared to a 26.7% increase in June; and fuel oil inflation rose 39.1% year-over-year, compared to a 42.9% increase in June.
